Campo 87. Field 87.

In Italia si comincia a morire di Covid-19 e la Lombardia da subito è la regione più colpita.
A Milano scelgono il Campo 87, nel Cimitero Maggiore, per dare degna sepoltura a uomini e donne - in tutto 144 - che non hanno famiglia, o che addirittura hanno a loro volta i parenti in ospedale per Covid-19.
Nel tempo, qualche familiare è passato a lasciare una foto, un fiore sbiadito. Tutte le lapidi sono uguali, solo nome e cognome, data di nascita e di morte le differenzia, in quel Campo 87, ai margini di un Cimitero metropolitano posto in un’area dove l’urbanizzazione avanza inesorabile.
Coloro che amiamo e che abbiamo perduto non sono più dove erano, ma sono ovunque noi siamo.

In Italy people are starting to die of Covid-19 and Lombardy is immediately the most affected region.
The Municipality of Milan chooses Campo 87 (Field 87), in the Major Cemetery, to give a worthy burial to men and women - 144 in all - who have no family, or who even have relatives in hospital for Covid-19.
Over time, some family members have moved on to leave a photo, a faded flower. All the tombstones are the same, only name and surname, date of birth and death differentiate them, in that Field 87, on the edge of a metropolitan cemetery located in an area where urbanization advances inexorably.
Those we love and have lost are no longer where they were, but they are wherever we are.
